John E. Wideman

An intellectual, educator, novelist, biographer, social critic and commentator, John Edgar Wideman was born on June 14, 1941 in Washington, DC. Wideman’s first novel, A Glance Away, was published in 1967 when he was only twenty six years old. A two-time PEN/Faulkner Award winner, Wideman received the Mac Arthur PriZe Fellowship in 1994.
